Who? Well do you remember Chad Hurley and Steve Chen? No? Well they’re the guys who founded YouTube and sold it off to Google in 2006 becoming instant billionaires (are almost anyways after taxes…). So between the two of them they have founded a new startup company called AVOS which, if you take a look at the site, looks like it was founded specifically for this deal. Neither party will comment much on the figures of the sale, but it was “leaked” that the acquisition price was set at $5 million. This shows a huge loss for Yahoo, as it originally purchased Delicious in 2005 for $18 million and has probably never seen a dime of profit from their investment but who knows. Delicious posted the following release on their official blog regarding the announcement: Here at groovyPost, this comes as great news. We’re big fans of Delicious, and with this announcement we’re sure the service will be sticking around for many years to come ! Providing a seamless transition for users is incredibly important for both companies. Yahoo! will continue to operate Delicious until approximately July 2011. When the transition period is complete, your information will be moved over to Delicious’ new owner. Thank you for your patience in this time of transition and thank you for using Delicious!
