Windows 10 Timeline and Sets Features
The Timeline feature was shown off during the Build conference earlier this year, and was rumored to be included in the Fall Creators Update but was inevitably kept out. It is a more robust version of using Alt + Tab and is a visual timeline that is directly integrated into Task View so you can move back into files and apps.
The Sets feature is like having tabs in your apps so you can group your work together more easily. “The concept behind this experience is to make sure that everything related to your task: Relevant web pages, research documents, necessary files and applications, is connected and available to you in one click. Office, Windows and Edge become more integrated to create a seamless experience, so you can get back to what’s important and be productive, recapturing that moment, saving time. We believe that’s the true value of Sets. And with Timeline, it’ll be even easier to go back and find the Set you were working on,” Myerson explains in his email. Check out the following video for an early look at the Sets feature coming to Windows 10 in future builds.
Those who have had hands-on time with early versions of these new features report they look and feel natural. Explaining that it feels like they could have been part of Windows 10 all along. Keep in mind though, that everything is still in Preview and the names of these features will probably change, and might not be included in the next major feature update expected early next Spring.
